Torn by Amanda Hocking is a young adult fantasy novel that follows the story of Wendy Everly, a teenager who discovers she is a changeling, half-human, half-Trylle being. Wendy’s life takes a dramatic turn when she meets Finn Holmes, a mysterious stranger who reveals her true identity as a member of the Trylle community.
Initially, Wendy is torn between her human upbringing and her newfound heritage. She struggles to adapt to the Trylle society and find her place within it. As she delves deeper into the Trylle world, Wendy learns about the complex political landscape and power struggles among different factions.
Throughout the book, Wendy grapples with conflicting loyalties and battles her internal demons. She possesses a unique ability that could have significant consequences for the Trylle community. Wendy forms unexpected alliances, faces formidable enemies, and uncovers shocking revelations about her past.
Torn was definitely a very easy book to get into and it was honestly perfectly as a sequel to the first book, however, I did find the book’s writing to be plain at times. Despite everything, Torn fits the bill when it comes to sequels you can’t miss.
